Experience Searching for Work at Home Job

Today I received an email with a work-from-home job listed as a data entry job. I went ahead and put in my contact info and kinda forgot about it. Within 2 hours I got a phone call and there was a lady calling to set up an interview. She asked if I would be available to do an online interview at either 5 pm or 7 pm, so I tell her 5 would be perfect. She just tells me that this is a global company since 2009 and that they only work with a select few. She gives me the website and password and has me repeat both back to her. Then she informs me that there is a pre-interview questionnaire being emailed and that I must fill out the questionnaire prior to the interview.

I check my email and there is a link to the questionnaire along with the information she had me repeat. I go to the link and there are typical interview questions. What are your strengths and weaknesses, where do you want to be in the next 2 years, and next 5 years, why do you want to work from home, and how do you stay motivated.

Now comes time for the interview. I log in and I am waiting. Then I find out it is more of a webinar than an interview. They never say the business name, just that it is a global company. They start out making it sound like it is a job and that they only work with certain individuals. Then they start talking about proven systems to start and run your own business. HuH!

Then they say that they will give information about the company and get you started on the "proven system" once you sign up for the "free trial" with no credit card required. Whoa!

Now honestly, I closed out the page right then and there. I was not going to waste any more time on this so-called job. This was a case of false advertisement. I have a degree in business and public administration, so I am sure they are not going to tell me much more than I already know. Plus, I am seeking employment while trying to build my own business brand. I am not looking to pay for some "proven system" from a no-name company.

On top of this, before they called me for this so-called interview, I got one of those computerized calls trying to see what type of education I would be interested in. I get these crazy calls all the time, after "applying" for jobs. I have gotten into arguments with human callers trying to further my education. I tell them I have a master's degree and I am not interested in furthering my education at this time. I then have to just hang up because they will not take no for an answer.

This so-called company is a scam. They have no intention of hiring anyone even though it is advertised as a job. You cannot even get the name of the company until you sign up for this free trial. And honestly, who is to say there is a name of an actual company since their goal is to get your money to provide some type of information on starting a business providing some type of product. This should be advertised as a business opportunity, not a job.
